2 point slings with bungee at the ends. Why?

Why even have bungee on a sling, ever? I have never enjoyed such a thing. I found a sling in a drawer the other day with HK hooks. I just cut the hooks and tossed the rest of the sling in the trash. Don't even know where I got it from.

I use the sling to stabilize when shooting and never felt like I needed any part of my rifles to bounce up and down.

Is there a legitimate reason for bungee on one or both ends of a two point or even a one point sling?

Enlighten me please, oh CGN hivemind. Thank you!

I like the one I have for my PRS rifle. Makes it "feel lighter" and it doesn't pull on the neck as bad.

As a bigger guy I like that I can have it a little tighter and it will stretch some letting my move/sling/support easier without always having to adjust the length manually

Okay that makes sense. But doesn't it bounce around if you run?

A bungee single point is great for easier transitions to support side... but on a 2-point? Umm...

Since it's on my PRS rifle, there is not a lot heavy running with a 16 pound rifle that is 53" long

On a carbine for a lot of folks I don't think they are necessary but for my I can make one work as it lets me suck the gun in tighter to me when slung but it will stretch the few inches I need to get my support arm involved for stabilization

Seems kinda stupid to me. The whole point of having a sling is off-hand stability, and you want it tight and sturdy. Having bungee on the ends pretty much makes the whole thing limp wristy doesn't it?

I doubt it. Your gun still weighs the same.

Not with a good sling and its setup so you stretch the bungee portion fully or near to it when using it for stability

I always assumed the bungee ones were really just carry straps- not actual shooting slings. Curious if others use one as a shooting sling....

Yes it still weighs the same, however you do "feel" it less. If you've never used a sling, you're missing out. With the sling tight and the gun pulled against your shoulder, it's more or less an extension of your body. It moves with you without you having to think about it, and it stays put. Don't know how else to explain it.

...and securing your weapon and allowing hands-free for other things. Can even double as a tourniquet if needed.

The bungee keeps the sling 'shorter' so it's less sloppy but stretches out when it's time to go hot.
