    Stolen Driver License Issues

I received a notice a while back that my driver license info had been used to make counterfeit licenses. I have been checking with credit bureaus to make sure there isn't any fraudulent activity, but I also thought I should perform some sort of background check into general illegal activity as well. What is the most thorough way to check whether or not there has been any illegal activity recorded in my name across the entire state? I haven't had any denials during a purchase, but it has occurred to me that there could be lesser issues out there that wouldn't necessarily show up during purchase eligibility check.

If you're not talking about eligibility, why are you posting here, rather than "Off-Topic"?

What kind of lesser issues are you worried about? AFAIK, the state maintains databases by dept, so DMV will have driving info, DOJ will maintain guns and ammo info, etc. There probably is not a centralized, catch-all repository of all stuff that you do within the state.

As far as the best way to check? Probably a credit scouring service. Don't expect it to be free.

Did you get.a.case number from the sheriff.
You will have buy the credit bureu records.
Better buying something like lifelock to protect yourself.
You should also be able to just lock your credit.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

A few years back a guy in Florida was watching the news when they announced he was wanted for a shoot out with an ak47. He immediately called the police to tell them it wa not him. They verified someone bought the gun using his drivers license which had been stolen a few months before.

Look into getting a driving record from the DMV.

When you lost your DL, did you file a police report? if you did, then the agency who took your report should have advised you to call the three credit bureaus. The credit bureaus would have put a mandatory 7 year lock on your credit for free as long as you provided them with a police report number. I assumed DMV knows about your stolen DL because you would have applied for a replacement. if you want a detail info on your DL, you will need to go into DMV to get a detail pull on your license. The one you get online will not be as detail. GL

                    .
I wonder the same. It seems like you'd have better responses from OT. Maybe a mod will move it.

it could have leaked out from DMV or some online retailer that requires a drivers license on file.

I've found that having really bad credit and no money in the bank to work really well against fraud..
