Are there rejects?
Wouldn't "rejects" just be "smithed" by John until it became a "pass"?
I thought the idea behind the Valtro was to import Italian-made m1911s, after which John Jardine personally goes over each one to make it acceptable to him, whatever was needed.Vae VictisComment

All the 1998A1’s as I understand came to John who rejected a large portion of them as being of unacceptable quality. He sent them back to Italy with the agreement the mfg wouldn’t export the “rejects” the Italians broke their agreement and exported the majority to Canada....I’m interested in what the Canadian ones bring vz Johns. The Canadian one would have an import stamp I believe. I think some Canadian ones might have been purchased by people in the past who thought they were buying one of Johns. Don’t know, just guessing-I’ve never seen either one in personNRA Lifetime member
