Moving to CA - Integrated Compensator Question

There is no real relevance to a "Supressor" or "Silencer" in California's Assault Weapon statute. That statute only uses the term "Silencer" as an example of something that can be fitted onto a threaded barrel.
It's the threaded barrel itself that makes a semi-auto pistol with a detachable magazine into an illegal "Assault Weapon", regardless of what the threads are used for. Also please note that California treats a lugged barrel as being a threaded barrel (refer to 11CCR5471(rr)).
Fastening the compensator to the threaded barrel with Locktite doesn't remove the threads from the barrel. If you build a man a fire, you'll keep him warm for the evening. If you set a man on fire, you'll keep him warm for the rest of his life.Comment

Mfactor not legal in ca suppressor is meaningless , If a pistol barrel has threads weld and pin the barrel or remove barrel before coming here.Comment

You can silver solder or weld or blind pin the muzzle device to the pistol, these techniques are considered permanently attached.Comment

RickD, forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't this exactly how all the Walther p22's that are on the roster come from the factory? I know even the rostered CA versions come with a threaded barrel. I was under the impression that they simply had the thread cap affixed with red loctite.Comment

The Walther P22 caper was a special deal with the DOJ. I'm only vaguely familiar with the details, hopefully a Calgunner with better knowledge will chime in.RickD, forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't this exactly how all the Walther p22's that are on the roster come from the factory? In a nutshell, DOJ placed the P22 on the roster and a large number of them were sold to unsuspecting buyers before anyone realized that the sale and/or possession was a felony (Note: Rimfire rifles are exempt from the Assault Weapon statute, but rimfire handguns are not).
Part of the recall remedy was that DOJ approved a manner of alteration that involved fixing a sleeve over the treads.
They could probably get way with that. The manner of removing the threaded characteristic isn't defined in statute. It's a manner of interpretation (the feds do so in regulation, I haven't seen a corresponding state regulation). If you build a man a fire, you'll keep him warm for the evening.
