Are lever actions making a comeback?

Depending on the rifle, 38s may feed well or not. Some rifles are more finicky than others. My Marlin shoots 38s just fine, poi shift is about 4" left compared to 357s (both my handloads). Easy to handloads 357s to 38 power levels if you happen to get a picky eater.

Handloading 45-70 you can get relatively inexpensive, especially with unjacketed ammo. Cast your own and it's even cheaper. And reloading straight wall cartridges is stupid easy. If I were to go big bore, I'd probably pick up a 444 Marlin, uses mostly same bullets as a 44 mag but pushed at much higher velocities. Can load a 240gr bullet as low as 1600fps, or as high as 2400fps.

Factory ammo is expensive. The amazing thing about 45-70 is the crazy range of loads, everything from powder puff trapdoor ammo to 500gr rounds that will literally pass through 2 water buffalo standing side by side.

For just fun shooting, 357 is the way to go. It's got ballistics comparable to 7.62x39 within 100 yards, but you can shoot 38s from (some of) the same rifles with the felt recoil of a 22. And it's capable for deer or reasonably sized hogs at closer ranges. At 100 yards with most 357 rounds out of an 18" barrel it's still hitting like a 357 out of a 4" revolver at point blank range.

I began buying levers and revolvers about 5 or 10 years ago because I saw the writing on the wall. Leftists and RINO's are going to ban semi-autos. So I began buying to beat the coming rush.

I have been eyeing a lever action for a very long time. My brother got a Rossi way back in the 90s, and I just liked the action. Maybe watched too many Westerns as a kid.

Then saw the Henry Model X and had to get one, took a long time but finally got a 357. It is a ton of fun.

Certainly reduces ammo consumption per range trip, definitely more fun per round as you work a little for it.
Also noticed quite a few people at the range were asking about it. The RSO has a few Henrys and liked the added side loading gate.

Sportsman's warehouse had a few sweet lever action Winchesters in stock a few weeks ago was tempting but i think i like the Henry line better especially the side loaders

It has been like that for as long as I can remember which is longer than a half century.

Yeah, they never left, but due to potential new anti "assault weapons" legislation and capacity limits of magazines, more people are seriously considering leverguns.

An aging America might be part of the reason as well.

I own a few long guns and can tell you with absolute truth my favorite to shoot is my Marlin 336 in 30-30. But I am a sadist and love throwing hot loads (giggity) in it, making it kick like a mule. Best $200 ever spent.

What they didn't warn me about is to make sure your game has some distance... I was to eager to shoot it and blew off the the front quarter of the first deer that walked by

My Winchester 95 .30-06 is as accurate as any bolt sporting rifle with iron sights. With the added peep sight i can shoot it to 400 yards which with my poor eye sight is quite the accomplishment.

The lever throw is pretty long but smooth and feeding with any bullet shape is 100%

I have read great reviews of the Browning BLR and the similar Henry Long Ranger rifles in non traditional lever chamberings.
