Grease gun extremely controllable?

Yes, I’ve only heard second hand. I was never burdened with that weapon as we already had the superb 240 Golf.

In the early 80s, the 240 was going thru trials. It worked, but due to the weight difference the 240 was
used for U.S. Army vehicle mount only.

Later, I'm sure some Marines stole a few 240s from the U.S. Army. Thus proving that Grunts could handle the
weight difference.

Randy D. may very well have been in a position to have seen first hand the Belgian made 240 introduction
into Marine Corps Line Company standard weapons issue.

At the gun shows, some people are still selling sealed 60 year old magazines for around $30. Some gray some black. I think you can tell by the foil wrapper.

Shot a lot of sub machine guns while in the military. M3A1 and a combat load of .45 ACP is too heavy.

Carl Gustav M/45 Swedish K is a really nice package in 9mm. Very fun to shoot.

Swedish gun clubs have a standard competition for the M/45. Apparently the guns are on loan from the government and are retained at the various clubs.

Another open bolt gun that is a joy to shoot is the British MKIV Sterling. A refinement of the British Sten gun. A slightly higher rate of fire at 550 rounds/min and simply the best 9mm magazine design ever from that era. This specific gun is actually a "Stenling", built on a transferrable Sten tube. Essentially identical to the Sterling except for the width of the cocking slot and an internal pin to keep the cocking handle from falling out.

The M11/9, cheap and crude out of the box, with a 900 rpm rate, is like the AR-15 of the machine gun world. That is, the upper comes off, and modern uppers with Pic rails, even set up to use a different magazine, can be slapped on. Even better, it's the cheapest machine gun you can find (pretty much) and you can still find NIB ones.

Agreed. The M11/9 guns offer owners huge flexibility. We have two.

An original configuration gun that is a bullet hose, running around 1100 rounds/min:




..and one with a Lage Max-31 MK2 upper running at a more leisurely 750 rounds/min and uses Suomi 72 rd drums and stick mags:




That's CalGunner SVT-40 shooting both.

The Lage upper makes the gun perfect for sub-gun competition. Richard Lage uses exactly that to compete monthly at Rio Salado in Mesa and at the AZ state sub-gun championships and he usually wins!

Lage also makes the Max-11/15 5.56 upper for the gun with a price of entry of around $3000 just for the upper:

Availability of Lage's uppers have driven prices of transferrable M11/9 guns up into the $8000-$9000 range. Still one of the cheapest entry level machine guns available.
