Burglary suspect shot by resident in Montebello Estates. He is in custody in county jail.
INFORMATION:
On May 10, 2021, at approximately 0600 hours, our staff was dispatched to the 3300 Block of Cienega Rd (at Montebello Ct) [nice homes, gated, private community] for a report of a possible shooting.
Upon arrival, an 18-year-old male named Ocean Burger was located lying on the roadway edge with an apparent gunshot wound to his leg. Burger is a resident of the Southside Estates Area of Hollister, CA. We learned the following:
A female resident was asleep in her home on Montebello Ct and was alone with her children. She awoke to the sounds of someone rummaging through her closet. She confronted an intruder, later identified as Burger, in her walk-in closet. The resident armed herself and ordered Burger of her home. Burger was non-compliant and was armed. He also had numerous items of her property in a bag.
After several confrontations throughout the property, and after firing several warning shots, Burger again advanced at the female. She fired one last shot which struck him in the leg.
Burger was treated and released for the single gunshot wound at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas. He was later booked into our jail on charges of burglary and possession of burglary tools.
