...where one may go to just to "shoot the ****"? or are those the yesteryears.

Nowadays it seems its all business - get you in get you out outfits.

Any mom&pop stores? FFLs that remember repeat customers or patrons?

Having been to so many repeat FFLs between OC to LA to IE, only one place seems to remember me, and its not even a dedicated FFL nor a place I frequent. Its a pawn store in a county I don't live in.

It's rare nowadays and generally not a good business model and even in the places that do it's been too busy during the pandemic to allow it and social distancing requirements also hurt that.

SO you want to sit in the store and waste thier time (I mean "chat" and "hang out"? Let me guess, you also yearn for the days when you could sit in the bank lobby and drink free coffee and eat sugar cubes all day.

Come one. NO business needs people just "shooting the SH**" for hours at a time. Most gun shops and gun departments are pretty small. If just you and 5 other people "hung out" the place wouldn't have room for actual customers to come and get things done.

The gun business in CA is VERY tough. We just lost OC Armory here in Laguna Hills, and the number of shops seems to always be shrinking from lack of inventory and on and off gun rushes feast and famine. They REALLY don't need people "shooting the SH**".

Maybe you could hang out with a Walmart greeter? Perhaps the local dry cleaner wouldn't mind shooting the breeze with you for a bit? Please, leave the gunstores alone. They have enough problems.

Yes, Gun Businesses are tough. Even tougher when they have to sell to liberal voters like you knowing in the end people like YOU will only make 2nd A. worse.
