    keep ammo?

Not sure if this is the right section to ask this question so mods please move if needed..

I'm a Realtor in California and in the process of prepping a property for the MLS. This is a probate sale and has been approved by the court to move forward. I have a written statement from the executor of the estate to remove all items and personal belongings including ammo within the property. I would honestly like to keep it but only if allowed legally.

I was just in a similar circumstance and my attorney had me turn it in to the PD. He felt there was the possibility that I could claim it under found/abandoned property, but it wasn't worth going through the effort in the end. So the PD got it.

There was a good amount of ammo left within the property. I'd estimate 4-5k total of various calibers, mostly 9mm which is what I mostly use so i'll talk to an attorney and go from there. Thanks for the input, DVSmith!

What are you supposed to do with all the rest of the property? Damn right I would keep the ammo. And I sure as hell wouldn't post it around the interent.

Sounds like a clear conflict of interest. Never jeopardize your professional integrity for personal gain.

I would just keep it. You have the letter from the executor to remove the property.

                  this.

you already obtained a signed letter from the executor that gave you control of any property left in the estate to be removed. if the letter doesn't state what to do after "removal" then it can be inferred that it is left to your discretion on what to do with it after it is removed from the estate.

or you know, go ask the executor of the estate. just ask them "hey, can i keep any of the items i am removing from this estate or do you want me to move them to a storage place of your choice so you can sell them yourself?"

                      Keep it.

Or you can give it to me. I'm a worthy cause.

                          That's the bigger question.

Independent of the "ammo" question, the OP could be talking about a TV as well and professionally there is that line to cross or not.

As noted above, conflict of interest. It has been my experience if your have to ask, then it is wrong. Asking is tantamount to hoping someone will agree with you taking the item in question.
