    Intrafamilial Gun Transfer via CFARS

If I do an intrafamilial gun transfer from father to daughter via CFARS website, how long does it take? Will I get confirmation via email or USPS mail??

    1. Treat all guns as if loaded (even when you know they aren't).
    2. Never point the muzzle at anything you aren't willing to destroy.
    3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target.
    4. Know your target and what is beyond it (avoid all collateral damage).

The family member receiving the firearm is the person that needs to submit the report.

CA DOJ BOF will send a letter, via USPS, acknowledeging the transfer in 4-64 weeks, after the report payment is confirmed (check cashed or credit/debit card charged).
^Current average is around 6 months.

I've done a couple by mailing in the form with a check. Took about 3 months.

due to the ammo background check, how does she buy ammo if the gun needs to be registered to her and her residence.

I might have to buy ammo for her until the transfer is completed.

If she does not have a current AFS record.
When she buys ammo, they can do a Basic Ammo Eligibility Check.
Basic Ammo Eligibility Check = $19.00 takes up to 30 days*.
*Pay for ammo and $19 ammo DROS fee, given an ATN to check on CFARS to see when they are approved. Once approved, go back to dealer to pick up ammo.

If she has a current AFS record.
When she buys ammo, they can do a Standard Ammo Eligibility Check.
Standard Ammo Eligibility Check = $1.00 is "instant".

If she buys a firearm from/through a CA FFL dealer, the transfer process will generate a current AFS record.

Please correct me if I am wrong, the person who is receiving the gun must also have a FSC (firearm Safety Certificate) before they can have it transferred to them.

Yes. When she fills out the CFARS form they have a space to type her
                FSC number.
