    X Steel Targets

Went out in March with a buddy and shot some steel for the first time, which was a ton of fun. Went to Tumey Hills (BLM). After that I wanted to get a few gongs. Got some square ones in AR500 for pistol/22 and AR550 round ones for rifles from XSteel.

Somehow there was a mix up with their system and they send me a round AR500 instead of square. Contacted them on their website and they responded the next day, shipped a few days later a replacement and said keep the round one. Excellent customer service, and their targets were very nicely machined and easy to prep for primer & paint. Glad to experience this, as it seems customer service in many places have taken a dive since Covid.

Haven't had the opportunity to test these out yet, and likely won't till next winter.

On a side note I did notice the Wolf Gold 223 does pit the AR550 target I got from Shoot Steel a little, took a chip out on the edge as well. Didn't notice that with the PMC Bronze (didn't want to test out any of the Federal XM193 as they are even a bit hotter than the Wolf Gold). I did run it out of a 16", but at 100 yds (which is a bit close).

The IPSC steel target was a blast with some 9mm; didn't have my one ear covered when I hit it with some HST +P and man the steel clang was loader than the round firing.

Anyways, rambling a bit, but it will be really hard to go back to paper. Can't wait for winter or to find more places to set up steel.

Usually they suggest firing over 100 meters if you don't want your steel targets to pit.

That's exactly why I went to steel targets. I like to hear the ping to give me immediate confirmation I hit the target.

+1 for dragon targets.you get a cool sticker with each one but they fall off after 2 hits. Steel is great but paper has its place.

          These guys needed a cleanup.

We put approximately 1500rds of 22, 9mm and 00 Buck on them last week. Anywhere from 7-50yds. Overall, some have likely seen 2-3k rounds each in the last 18 months with little wear. Targets are from Make It Ring.

              Maybe.
How thick are your 12" targets, and what are your shipping costs?
