This turkey walks into a gun range...

An unexpected visitor was spotted at the Santa Clara Field Sports Park rifle range just south of San Jose, CA. Wild game is not allowed to be hunted on county land that surrounds the range. Wild turkey and hogs have grown accustomed to the sound of gunfire and quite bold as to walk onto the range itself.

Heard at Camp Pendleton Wilcox Range 103,
    “Don’t shoot the wildlife.”

          Same here.
And they scream cease fire, justly so, plus an announcement that it is considered poaching if you shoot the deer.

Perhaps if you wave a spoonful of mashed potatoes at him he'll get the message.

When my Dad was in the service, they had them on Browning .30 cal 1919's, and they were trying to explain to them how to squeeze off one round. The guns were pretty much fixed, so very little movement up, down, left, or right. Just then a rabbit ran across the targets. Imagine 30 Brownings going full tilt boogie, a rabbit running for its life (all the bullets went over it's head) and a DI screaming at the top of his lungs "CEASE FIRE!!"

The turkeys were pretty frequent at Chabot. During cease fire one of us would run out and chase them away. I don't think they had a care in the world.

Deer still walk across at about 200 yards at Pala shooting range to this day.

I've had turkeys, rabbits, quail, and dove hang out downrange where I shoot.

I’ve seen them walk across the backstop during a combat match.

EF&G has critters wandering around all the time.
