Question regarding middle-man services and 30rd mags.

Would it be legal, as a resident of California, to buy a 30 round mag online, have it shipped to a middleman (not in California) who will then limit it to 10 rounds, and then ship it to me in California?

From what I've gathered on my research thus far, it appears the answer is no.
But I am curious to hear you opinions and takes on this.

    Thanks!

Yes, this is legal under Federal and CA laws, as long as the magazines are permanently altered to 10 or less rounds.

However, some out-of-state vendors will not sell large capacity magazines to CA residents or to persons with a CA billing address. This is due to their company policies.

Magazines with a blocking rivet will count as "permanently altered to 10 or less rounds" correct?

Also how can this be legal?
It's legal for me to buy standard cap mags so long as I don't bring or have them brought into the state, correct?
Which, just to clarify, means I can purchase 30 rd magazines (whilst being in California) have them shipped to middle-man who rivet blocks them to 10 and then send them to me in Cali?

Forgive any redundancies as I just need to make sure I understand everything correctly.

This will be your first problem.

Better option is for your out-of-state middle man to buy the mags and modify them for you, then ship them to you. There would be no selling "illegal" mags to a CA resident, and no shipping of "illegal" mags into California.

And I'm not a lawyer, so this is not legal advice. Just thinking out loud like a reasonable person.

                Yes it is.
But that is paying shipping twice.

                Best way:
Contact EBR. They are in Arizona and a vendor on calgun. One of the best FFLs I ever dealt with. Talk to Michael and tell him what mags you like. He can order it, block them, and ship them to you.
You will come out better dealing with one vendor and might even save a buck.

I've done this with Audiophil ordering mags from Brownells.
