Purchasing used upper

I've been in the market for a 14.5" complete carbine length upper, but the only ones available I've found have been used and without a bcg.

Whats the general consensus about buying a used upper without a bcg and a "low round count" or "like new", specifically something along the lines of Colt or BCM.

I dont have an extra bcg to go in whatever upper, so id have to purchase a new one.

Unless its a screaming deal, just buy everything new and put it together yourself.

Generally it's fine, I'd trust a used factory assembled upper over someone's franken 10 days out of 10.

Really should inspect it or at least have a viable return policy......I have bought other people's problems too many times in the past to say buying used has worked well for me. The times I have tested the used weapon at the range with the owner - have been the best purchases in my experience.

K have had good uck buying used. Sometimes I will swap barrels. I have about 5 spare bcgs.

I just sold a 10.5 cause I never shot it and I kept the BCG. It's a seller's market right now. All my franken ARs have interchangeable BCGs and chargers that work well.
