    Help with gun smithing

I've been trying to find a gun smith that can help me with:
Modifying a S&W 686 cylinder for moon clips.
    Threading a .22 upper barrel.

So far I've only asked two, Imbert and Smithers in San Carlos and Tabor's in San Bruno, but they said that they couldn't do the moon clip mod and didn't dare to thread the barrel on a semi-auto.

Does anyone know of a competent gun smith (preferably NorCal area) that would be able to perform either, or both of these mods?

I would think Alan Tanaka would be able to handle both jobs. He's in Gardena.

    A.T. CUSTOM GUNWORKS
    Alan Tanaka
    17924 South Hobart Blvd., Gardena, CA 90248; (310) 327-2721, FAX (310) 327-4641

I know he specializes in 1911s and S&W wheelguns.

      DMW in Covina 626 859-0299
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

Dave at DMW's does all of my revolver machining and I highly recommend him.

If your willing to ship your cyclinder, I just had my 625 cut for fullmoon clips by http://www.pinnacle-guns.com/revolver.asp.
          $75.00 and a three week turn-around.

            Sounds like they are educated.

What a shame, many gun smiths and FFLs are so uneducated in such a touchy field. I guess CYA is a good policy, altho kinda weak.

              At Tabor's their comment was:
"If we do that and you put a silencer on it, we will be in a lot of trouble"

You would think that the few remaining stores we have in CA would know the laws by now....
