How far is too far with iron sights?

Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

I like how he has to take the rifle off his shoulder and almost mortar it just to operate the bolt.

Not no more, no. I prefer my No. 4 Mk.1 that I can work the bolt on with the open palm of my hand with my cheek still on the stock.

He doesn't tell you how big the target was. We're going to guess that it's a full sized man sized target, not your 12x12 or 12x20. For all we know it could be a 5foot square plate and he's been practicing this shot regularly for a few months. Anyone know at what range he's located or can verify distance?

Dude can shoot, if it's real anyway. Not sure what to believe anymore.

If I remember correctly, the US Army tested the new 500 grain bullets for the trapdoor at about 1400 yards with the iron sights. They got hits on a very large target.

My dad could ring small steel gongs at 300 yds all day long with his 30-06 and open sights well into his late 40s. His eyesight started to deteriorate in his 50s and he never warmed up to optics, so he stopped shooting. He was proud of his USMC Expert Rifleman pin and clearly had earned it. I miss seeing him shoot.

We were all standing around chewing fat and really some old guy walked over, pulled out a Colt 45 and fired one round at the 300 meter target. ........................Tink. Then he walked off.

This at Fort Ord where H&K was showing off it's then new PSG-1.

^^ I've been practicing with a 45 hammerli SAA, it's an accurate platform once you get used to the dog water iron sights.
