Actually, I'm originally from California. Always saw Driver License abbreviated as DL and thought Commercial Driver License anytime I saw CDL. Never heard anybody refer to their Oregon Driver License as an ODL.

Here I never thought anything but ca drivers license when I see CDL.And now cannot buy ammo without one or ca id so maybe they just confirm to not waste time with firearms and ammo related products

There store there policy, a used firearm should be fully inspected within reason if it has a range awesome. A long gun examination is different with the OAL and some exemptions need to be made. I guess more communication can go a long ways.

I always ask if I can dry fire. Then depending on how they answer and what the demeanor of the clerk is I do more examinations with the barrel pointed 70-80-90 degrees up. I go out of my way to show that I'm safe with the firearm and in doing so they mentally give me more leeway in my handling of the firearm.

Clear communication leads to less misunderstandings.

Would I like to give them a nod and field strip the gun like a boss on the counter? Yes, but I also understand that these guys have to work with the public, ranging from off the street near homeless people to worldwide competitors.

At least they let you touch the gun. I have an LGS that quotes covid and demonstrates trigger weight and length of pull in front of the customer...

If they're that stupid then they should have a separate area cordoned off that both the perspective buyer and the clerk can go to to exam used weapons.

My temperature was scanned before I entered. I have been out to dinner and to numerous stores shopping and this was never done. I am surprised they didn't ask me to put on two masks and a face shield.

Some Turner's are better than others, and some employees are better than others for sure. Sounds like the OP got a bad one. Seems like the larger a store gets, there's more weirdness on both side of the counter. My local Turner's is pretty good, but I've seen some really wonky customers in there. Pre-covid, guys and the girlfriends go in there just to fondle firearms. Never end up buying anything after taking the guys time for a half hour or more. Waving the gun around, snapping a revolver sideways to close the cylinder. All kinds......

This is good to know they are such paragons of knowledge. There is no law that says you can not be shown and handle an unsafe handgun. Maybe you want to check one out to see if your willing to search one out in the over priced used market.
