You are lucky you did not spill ounces of Ballistol. That is stinky.

You can was off any oil using Dawn dish washing liquid. It is used to wash crude oil off of birds and wild life, Hoppe's cant be worse than that.
I was smart enough to cap the Ballistol, just not the hoppes. I've used Dawn on it already, it helped but now I have baking soda on it and if that doesn't work I'm gonna use steam or something.

You're a smarter man than me. I think from now one I'm gonna put a tarp down on the floor and do it outside where I can hose it down if needed.

Sorry, I don't have any experience at steaming a chemical out of wood, I don't know if it would work or make the situation worse.

I'd spend some time posing your question on youtube and seeing what pops up.

Same here...I just don't see the issue.

Sounds like a Frog Lube ad. If the floor is "sealed", how did the Hoppes get into the pores?

I'd try baking soda and plenty of ventilation.

Don’t know if it will help with an oil smell, but “Ozium” is what we used on EMS calls to cover the worst smells that a human can create. Just spray in the air and not on the source of the smell. For those of you who have worked on ALS medical calls always make sure you don’t mistake the Ozium spray with the Nitro spray since .4mg of Ozium does not help a chest pain patient, although it does mask any bad breath.

Buy a fish, place it next to the spilt Hoppe’s. Let the dead fish sit there for a couple days. The smell of the dead fish will help you forget the smell of the Hoppe’s.

                Report back

On a serious note, try vinegar and baking soda to help neutralize the Hoppe’s.

Thank you all for the recommendations. I tried steam cleaning coupled with dawn and baking soda. The smell is mostly out, we'll see if it returns.

When the GF wants more of my attention she sparingly uses Hoppes #9 akin to perfume.
