    Standard Cap Mags

    Hello Brain Trust
    Asking for a friend's brother's butcher's Daughter
I..er, I mean she is buying an off roster pistol from an L.E.O. Can the L.E.O legally mail the standard cap mags out of state?
    Thanks

        Sure.

Just as long as they remain out of state or are blocked if brought back.

is legal, presuming the other state is OK with it.

It would, however, be illegal for said sister to come visit CA, and the mags just happen to fall into her suitcase when she was packing, and just happen to fall out and be forgotten when she leaves.

Highly unlikely to be noticed by officialdom, except when folks post about it on a website read by Federal, State and local LE.

Is there an exception for LEO to "buy, manufacture, import, keep for sale, expose for sale, give or lend any large-capacity magazine"?

Unfortunately not, used to be able to do through a security company, that loophole got closed years ago.

Close. Penal Code section 32405 provides:
"Section 32310 does not apply to the sale to, lending to, transfer to, purchase by, receipt of, possession of, or importation into this state of, a large-capacity magazine by a sworn peace officer, as defined in Chapter 4.5 (commencing with Section 830) of Title 3 of Part 2, or sworn federal law enforcement officer, who is authorized to carry a firearm in the course and scope of that officer’s duties."
LEO's are not permitted to manufacture, or keep for sale, large-capacity magazines.

Why would you involve a CA seller when the sister out of state could just buy them locally? Keep the CA residents out of this.
