I recently changed my name (first and middle) but haven't gotten around to changing anything other than my SSC. I didn't even consider that this might be an issue (yea, I'm dumb) til after putting a down payment and filling out the DROS where they ask about aliases. I put my new first and middle as aliases, but everything else has my old name, the name that matches my license. I'm quite sure putting my new name and having it not match my license wouldn't have gotten me anywhere to even start purchasing a gun. But is this going to screw me over too and make me lose my down payment?

Obviously too late now, but why change your name at all? Lots and lots of people around the world have these things called nicknames. You use your legal name for, well, legal stuff but your friends and relatives call you "Bo" or whatever. Many people from other countries have american nicknames just to make it easy on themselves. Everyone here knows how to spell "Steve" but not "Quyen"."Never! Jesus Christ, what dont you understand about never?"

Legal name change and current legal docs with said change need to be in hand otherwise you have run afoul.

I changed my name but all my paperwork matches and I just list my alias. Never had a problem.Comment
