Maybe if enough people asked they would see the profit potential and begin to.

There's one down here in Tustin, OC - no guns or ammo either. The guy told me they're not bringing guns to CA due to the laws. I told him that's stupid and he agreed (totally killing my righteous fury attitude) but there's nothing he can do about it at that level except talk to the store manager to talk to the regional manager to talk to the super higher ups. They also didn't have any form of knives or fishing gear but they promised me that stuff will come in time.

When I asked a lady there if they did sell it and I maybe missed it she let out a big "*PSHH* Your the 100th person asking me that today, NO we don't sell ammo and we don't plan to"... i asked "why the attitude?" and she said she was sick of everyone asking her today (grand opening)...

            Oh well... CA wins again.

did you get her name? I would love to just call her & ask her if they sell guns & ammo. I have plenty of rollover minutes I'm not using & will probably loose so......

Well that's a good way to start off their reputation, with a big firm attitude!

They opened a store in Chino Hills as well. First thing that blew me away was,
there was no Hunting and fishing department.

When I asked a retail manager about not having a fishing and hunting department, what he said is they might bring it in, in the near future.
Because they do have it in all East coast stores. Apparently they took over
Chicks store here in Chino Hills and kept the stock. I told them in order to compete with Big 5 and the other stores they must have the 2 departments.

So we will see what happens! If they do not bring the fishing and hunting department in...... it is their loss!

sonofa. Well how's that for a company completely missing the boat. There's five? stores in all of santa clarita that sell ammo, and three of those are Walmarts. And they're all either out or premium priced. A prime opportunity to really score and Dick's throws it away with this nonsense.
Seriously, wtf do I need another Sport Chalet / Big 5 for? Been waitign MONTHS for Dick's to open, on the strength of my visits to their Vegas location, really looking forward to having another source for firearms-related items. This news is REALLY disappointing.

Figures. I guess I'll stop by tomorrow just so I can annoy her as well. I was really excited about them opening after seeing the Dick's in Iowa City (near my parents house) - it had a huge firearms area including custom engraved pistols and shotguns - it was fantastic!

No guns, no ammo, no hunting/fishing gear = No reason to go.

The out of state version have a large gun department.

And I almost swung by there today on the way to my sister in laws. Thanks for saving me the aggravation. So we get another fake sporting goods store in So Cal. Oh goody, just what I wanted more team apparel, basketball, volleyball, and softball equipment and sub-standard or overpriced hiking/camping gear. If I need Lakers flags maybe I'll swing by

There is little to no profit for sporting goods stores to carry firearms and ammunition. It is more or less a loss leader to bring customers to the store in hopes of them purchasing other items. Heck..we have more fishing merchandise stolen then actually sold, that department isn't to profitable at all. The real money for the company is in fitness, apparel and footwear.

Talk to the manager and mention your concern. Tell him/her that you will shop at Big5 and WalMart instead. It will get their attention. Perhaps they will change their policy.
