    NON-functional AR-15 lower?>

Where can I find an AR-15 lower that is in all ways a completely non-functional item? Metal or resin would be cool, safety blue or neon orange is fine.

    Any ideas?

really it is tough to make something IDENTICAL in every way but not-functional; even if all the parts were made of plastic it would fire at least a few rounds if you put a real upper on it...
but this is close to what you described:

has special FCG parts but the rest is pretty true-to-real

189 bucks? Forget that! Is there like a plastic receiver that cannot be transferred as a firearm nor does it have a FCG?

the reason that the cost of "replica" stuff is high is the market is very small.
you're unlikely to find anything that is what you describe for any cheaper.
you could buy one of their 80% lowers for ~$135 and finish it just as much as you need...

There used to be some lowers out there that were marked with Colt and HK etc. they look nearly identical...but I've never even held an airsoft gun, so I can't vouch for them....or even find them on the internet right now.

Get an 80% lower and drill out the takedown pin holes so you can mount an upper but not fire it?

Airsoft =/= real gun though, it will come off as someone trying to get an airsoft club together as opposed to a real gun club on campus. Those lowers would be around 100 bucks or so, check out spikes tactical.

I it is possible that I MIGHT (still undertain) get a factory second/screwup.

                      Stay tuned.

This sounds like a bad idea.

Only a bad idea if the receiver is actually a receiver. If I mangle it to be non-functioning AND it is an 80% lower, then it cannot be a firearm.

Just sent off my idea to UCSD again to see what comes of it. I think that based on the law it should be OK but that is just me.
