    My first Gunbroker purchase...CZ

    Hi everyone,
I just wanted to share my experience with a new purchase on GunBroker.com. I purchased a CZ-75D PCR Compact from a vendor here in California so this would make it the CA Compliant version.

The price tag alone was $799 to which I thought was maybe a bit too much. But...taking into the consideration that none of my LGS have had any in as of late. My local Turners have had a few come in here and there but are quickly sold before I even get to actually see it. Or they just don't come in for awhile.

I've tried those other vendors like Sportsmans Outdoorsman (sorry, forgot its real name) or Riflegear and a couple more of those vendors email notifications but never am I quick enough on the draw with them. Yes, I've been patient but I work a lot of hours these last month or so, so trying to jump on the notifications a few hours past is kinda fruitless.

I went with this vendor because they offered a layaway plan instead of forking out the whole purchase at once. This makes it easier for me in the long run in the financial department if you know I mean.

So again, taking that into consideration and not to mention, my CCW is in a renewal cycle this year, I want to add it to my options for a CCW carry firearm besides my Gen3 Glock 19.

So again, taking those factors into the purchase, after taxes and all that legal bla bla stuff...it will cut me out nearly $950-1k purchase.

Was this a good buy? I've tried everywhere to get one of these and with the current state of affairs in the firearms world, thought it was just a tad bit high but I've been wanting one for quite awhile and had to come to the conclusion that maybe GB was going to be my last option and the vendor I purchased from only had three left in stock.

Anyone else been in this situation, just want to hear your thoughts and experience. And yes, I know...each to his own...

Peace out...stay hard and live large!

Op, people here are undoubtedly going to chime in boasting of the price they paid for the same gun years ago. Fact is, no one can tell you if it was a good buy other than you. Personally I think it’s an outstanding gun and worth the price, even if it’s higher than usual.

        It's subjective.

Is it something you want now and you're willing to pay more than retail price because it's available? If so, then it's probably yes.

However, if you're willing to be patient and can wait weeks or months, you might be able to get it cheaper down the road. In that case, it's probably no.

Btw, I've paid around $900-$1k for off-roster Glocks (pre-covid) so if I want something, I don't mind paying market price for it. Others will call me crazy and say I have more money than common sense.

I would be careful there, I think it's possible for a CA-based FFL to offer non-roster handguns for sale outside of CA.

Why are you buying guns you can't afford? You have a CCW so you obviously have a firearm to meet your basic need for self defense. This never makes sense to me.

Well if you paid $799 than it was worth..... at least $799 to you. In today’s market and the fact you have not been able to find one is a factor and you should not worry that someone was or may be able to find one that was unavailable to you, for less. The time and expense saved not searching and driving all over to find what you want is also a money saver. You often don’t find the true value of something till you have two (or more) buyers competing for one item. If it was what you wanted then be happy that you got it at a price that you could afford (even though I agree I would not buy an extra gun if I had to finance it).

Rather bold assumption.. I've put guns on layaway before, simply because I was in no rush and didn't want to move the money around. And that was before guns and ammo became nearly impossible to find.

Guess you shouldn't choose to finance a car or a house either?

Just got a 92fs for 750. Couldn't find it online and don't remember ever seeing it at the stores for the past year. Over time 50 or 100 bucks won't matter much. You'll like the CZ.

Congrats on finding something you like.

You probably paid ~$350 more than what it would have been pre covid, but if you want it and can afford it, who cares? That’s going to be forgotten quickly compared to ammo cost over time and the enjoyment you get when you carry it

I recently purchased a Bushmaster ACR from gunbroker. Thanks to EBR Works who helped with the middle man process. Paid $2350.00 But thats not including all the fees I paid to bring into Cali.. I bought a 930 spx years ago also.

Does gunbroker charge you CA sales tax?

It won't matter, I don't know a gun store that doesn't make sure. If they don't, the LGS will. You'd be committing tax fraud but if you can talk the seller in giving you a receipt that says you paid taxes....

I've never been charged tax by a gunbroker seller. But all of my purchases were out of state. The receiving FFL charged tax rather than the seller.

If you're purchasing from a CA seller, they will need to charge tax. The receiving FFL will need to see proof that tax was paid.

If you where charged taxes on your invoice, no you don't pay taxes again. But if you didn't, my lgs told me I have to pay taxes to California
