    American Rifleman/ 1st Freedom

Todays mail brought the current March 2021 issues of American Rifleman, and the other magazine 1st Freedom. Both my wife and I are long time members (well) above the Life Member level, so we chose 1St Freedom just to not get two of the same magazine.
Looks like both of these will be going straight into the trash, after I cut the address label off.
The publications from NRA have deteriorated into nothing but propaganda to squeeze more money out of members to pay for Wayne's suits , travel and mansions. The artist caricature of Joe Biden on the cover and headline " Biden wants to stomp on your rights" says it all.
Who remembers American Rifleman from the 1980's and before where there were actually excellent articles on firearms, history, events, and hunting?
I can really see how many are turned off by the NRA these days. It's sad, really.

No need to worry, with the Big Scare right in front of us, I think the NRA will be raking in windfalls with or without our help.

I ignore the first few articles of American Rifleman, I already know my opinions on 2A and who to vote for...the rest of the mag has neat gear reviews and pictures for reading on the toilet

Like others have said, I ignore the editorials and opinion pieces. They had some excellent coverage last year on WW2 weapons and good stories from those veterans.

Without the NRA, in the future, the "gun mags" will only write about the guns Americans used to own before the big confiscation led by JB.

Supporting the NRA continues to be the single most important thing a gun owner can do to protect their gun rights at the National level.

What I see as an unfortunate situation is one of apathetic gun owners that wish to deny the fact that the fight for our civil-right imbued by the 2nd Amendment in this country, a right unlike any other, in any other country, that keeps the People in the cradle of power, and not the politicians... would be so naive and easily beguiled to parrot the repugnant views of the MAJORITY venture-capitalist run opportunist media and singular-opining and controlling internet moguls, to help them peddle THEIR ubiquitous propaganda seeking to destroy the NRA, and in hopes along with it, the 2nd Amendment itself.

Sitting before me is in fact an American Rifleman magazine from 1968, warning of the coming threat of a little known Gun Control Act, as well as another example from 1969 imploring the need for NRA members to do something about it.

To insinuate that the NRA, its members, leaders, and its media have only recently become "political" is not only a misnomer, but equally an outright lie, the very kind of lie that a certain New York Attorney General in Letitia James, and such bastions of truth like CNN, Yahoo, MSNBC, Huffington-Post, Mother Jones, Google, Twitter, and Hello Giggles (among so many others) would love for you to believe.

This nonsense about membership dues and donations paying for Zegna suits, travel, mansions, and any other number of slanderous concoctions devised by the Leftist route has been repeatedly proven and shown that these were either budgeted and accounted for through legitimate sources as part of production budgets, written off by way of tax deductions (and who doesn't want to see that?), were gifts from influential friends as anyone of that caliber as CEO may have, or were simply at personal expense - but of course, unless documented, it MUST have been on the backs of YOU the NRA member.

Bullcrap. Plain and simple. Their tactic? Get a photo of something, put in a caption to it, and sure - it MUST be what someone like Michael Bloomberg or Kris Brown can fund it to say. Because mere photos are used now days to insulate, numb, and nullify gun owners away from the truth. And foolishly they go along with it, robbed of their hearts and minds by convincing them someone is dipping into their wallet.

Accusation has replaced investigation, and is timed so perfectly only necessary so long as to diminish any clout the NRA would have had to expose Biden and Harris for their Anti-2nd Amendment pursuits in the last few months leading up to the 2020 election. That was the goal - post election, who cares if there is truth revealed and the persecution made impotent.

Shoot first, who cares about questions later, right? Paint their OWN 'caricature' of LaPierre to cast a picture that NRA members were victimized and duped by the only viable citizens' group fighting successfully for their civil rights, and you will have quashed the last firewall that stands between you and their absconding absolute power - that being your private gun ownership.

It is a wonder why anyone would be disillusioned over the intent of '1st Freedom' when the very title of that magazine explicitly conveys what its message would be, that it delves into the political concerns a preservation of the 2nd Amendment, pushing back against NeoSocialist and Anti-Constitutional legislation, rather than coughing up feel-good and glib stories of how sexy the latest Walther feels in the hand.

It's not a subtle title at all.

On that note, to diffuse and reject the idea that "Biden DOESN'T want to stomp on your rights" is willful ignorance if not negligence. Beyond their catapault of HR127 and similar legislation as of late, one does not need to get that from the NRA - all one needs to do is go to the very platform for which Biden's own campaign has itemized its gun control wet-dream list to get it directly from the old Cup of Joe.

There is nothing ambiguous or coy about it - it's as matter of fact and blunt as can be stated.

That thing you call propaganda is right here, right now, and it IS a wish to stomp on your civil-rights in Joe's own words - in WRITING:

                      https://joebiden.com/gunsafety/

                      Hold gun manufacturers accountable.

                      • Get weapons of war off our streets.

                      • Ban the manufacture and sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.

                      • Regulate possession of existing assault weapons under the National Firearms Act.

                      • Buy back the assault weapons and high-capacity magazines already in our communities.

                      • Biden supports legislation restricting the number of firearms an individual may purchase per month to one.

                      • Biden will enact universal background check legislation.

                      • Require background checks for all gun sales.

                      • Biden will enact legislation prohibiting an individual “who has been convicted of a misdemeanor hate crime, or received an enhanced sentence for a misdemeanor because of hate or bias in its commission” from purchasing or possessing a firearm. (And the idea of a "hate" crime as we have seen can be deemed as simple as telling an off-color joke online now days).

                      • Biden supports the proposal in the Enhanced Background Checks Act of 2019, which extends the timeline from three to 10 business days.

                      • Biden will enact legislation to prohibit all online sales of firearms, ammunition, kits, and gun parts.

                      • Biden will incentivize the adoption of "red flag" laws by giving states funds to implement them.

                      • Biden will enact legislation to give states and local governments grants to require individuals to obtain a license prior to purchasing a gun.

                      • Establish a new Task Force on Online Harassment and Abuse to focus on the connection between mass shootings, online harassment, extremism, and violence against women. (Just ripe for abuse of power).

                      • Put America on the path to ensuring that 100% of firearms sold in America are smart guns.

                      • Biden supports legislation holding adults criminally and civilly liable for directly or negligently giving a minor access to a firearm, regardless of whether the minor actually gains possession of the firearm.

                      • Biden will pass legislation requiring firearm owners to store weapons safely in their homes.

                      • Require firearms owners to report if their weapon is lost or stolen.

                      • Biden will stop the proliferation of these so-called “ghost guns” by passing legislation requiring that purchasers of gun kits or 3D printing code pass a federal background check.

                      • Dedicate the brightest scientific minds to solving the gun violence public health epidemic. (Another false tome courting abuse of power.)

                      • Prohibit the use of federal funds to arm or train educators to discharge firearms.
So while you may wish to eschew the idea that your 2nd Amendment has become a target for survival and a political toy, it is in fact out there, and you siding with the Anti-2nd Amendment crowd and mimicking their verbally armed spew against it does nobody any favors, and certainly not yourself.

Dislike it, and abhor it, that your once quaint, benevolent, and care-free past-time of playing with guns has now become a seething, gritty, and ugly blood-game of preserving a civil-right - but surely don't help those who wish to rob that of you and destroy the one effective organization trying to retain that right for you, whether you care or not, by repeating their slanderous vitriol to do it for them.

It goes without saying that as of late, many gun owners have become their own obstacle, but worse, seemingly wish to lay out a red carpet for the likes of those who seek unabashed and unmitigated infringement of the very civil-right that protects all of our others, that being, our 1st Freedom.

The "Wayne's suits" thing is about weakest (and worn out) excuse for not supporting that there could possibly be.

The low post count anti-NRA trolls are amusing because when it all comes down, they'll be the first to come crying: "Where was NRA when we needed them?"
