    CCW holster options

My CCW gun is a S&W 432PD, J Frame internal hammer revolver. I've been using a pocket holster to carry it but I'm not really fond of that method.

Can anyone recommend a good holster/method for carrying this type of firearm?

Now this is only one mans opinion but this has got to be the best holster out there. I use one with a Glock G30 SF but they make one for your handgun too. I trust my life with this holster. Its the Super Tuck...>>>> http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/

My issue is my body. I'm round in the middle if you know what I mean. The spare tire kind of makes waist carry cumbersome. I've tried placing the 432 (unloaded) inside my pants on my side, held in place by the pressure of my belt. The portion of the weapon that is below the belt is concealed nicely. The handle, that is above the belt, is a problem. My "spare tire" pushes out the handle and it makes a pretty decent print even on a lose fitting shirt.

I'm thinking waiste carry might not be the option.

Perhaps small of the back or maybe even ankle.

          This looks interesting. Opinions?

"SafariLand Model 4092 Ankle Holster for Revolvers. An all new concept by Safariland in retaining your concealed handgun from rotating around and slipping down on your ankle. This uniquely designed lightweight system is supported from the ground up by attaching a small support strip to your shoe. The support strip, used either with dress shoes or the upper shoulder of the boot, prevents the downward movement of the holster weapon and allows for more comfortable wear."

I have the same "spare tire" problem that you do. I've found over the years that a good inside the waist band (IWB) holster will stabilize the weapon much better than the "Mexican Carry" (just stuffing it between you and your pants). A good holster will keep the weapon from shifting around and causing the grips to profile.

Small of the back (SOB) is sometimes a good option; if you have back problems or sit in a car or at a desk chair for long periods, you may find it to be very uncomfortable.

Crossdraw holsters can be a good alternative if you do either of the above, especially if you spend a lot of time in a car.

Ankle holsters require loose trouser legs to prevent printing. You also have to practice sitting down to draw and/or standing on one foot unless you're one of the lucky folks who can still touch their toes without grunting and swearing. I gave up ankle holsters years ago but it might work for you.

If you wear a jacket routinely, shoulder holsters might be something to look at. I carried several different weapons in shoulder holsters.

Edit - the Super Tuck holster looks pretty good. I like the design.

I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!
