I got to go the the Isle of Man TT races in 1992. Getting off of the ferry there were about a half dozen squibs chomping at the bit waiting for the gate operator to let them off the boat. They hit the street engines revved, tires smoking, and were immediately hauled up short by a single IOM bobby in the middle of the lane armed with only his night stick. One guy tried to blow by him and found out what the effect of that baton is when it's jammed into the front spokes of a motorcycle ... immediate justice metered out on the spot, no waiting, no ticket, no judge. The bobby detained all the riders, took their ID information and then escorted them all back onto the ferry. Thank you. Have a nice day. Don't come back.
