Story Time.
I have a 2015 manufactured mk18 upper. for anyone that does not know, this is the 10.3" upper used at one time by SOCOM. The 2015 version had the metal dust cover and a "commercial" size gas port of .082 which is HUGE. constant ejection at 12:30-1:00 o'clock. Even underpowered .223 would eject at 2. Over the years I would estimated I put around 10,000 rounds through this upper. There was visual wear on the cam pin and nolt face from overgassing.
As of 2017, DD is now using a .071 or .070 gas port size (cant remember which) and plastic dust cover, which of course I have wanted since I heard about the updatet port size.
Last week I call DD and explain that my upper is a 2015 production with the "big" gas port size. Without saying a word further the rep on the phone says," no problem sir we will switch the barrel out and look everything over. What's your address? I will email you a return label and pay for shipping". I received the label within minutes. Shipped my upper the same day which was 1/21/21. They received it 1/28/21 and notified me of receipt. I receive a FedEx update on 1/29/21 that an order from DD has shipped. DD sent me an email stating that had replaced the barrel, gas block, gas tube, bolt carrier group, upper receiver, and dust cover. Basically everything except the rail.
I received the upper on 2/6/21 in a brand new box that looked like it was a brand new upper shipped from the factory. Chamber flag and all. They even unpinned a surefire Warcomp and reinstalled it timed neutral.
I was blown away by this whole experience. I knew DD built a great product and understood why they cost what they cost. But had no idea how excellent their costumer service was.
DD now has a lifelong costumer. Well, as long as AR's are legal for us paeans.
End Story
Are there any other manufacturers out there with similar customer service?
