    Hey, rich SIG fans

LGS has gotten in a couple of nice pistols, nice expensive pistols. At basically msrp, a rarity these days for nice. I don't really NEED either one, but rich SIG fans probably have bought pistols they don't need either. Since I'm kind of out of the know on recent extra nice SIGs, maybe you can comment on the relative desirability of these guns. (Yes, I know these are probably off-kali-roster)

    1. P229 Legion 9mm, $1199. Other than being a Legion, it looks like most other 229's. I'm not familiar with all the Legion aspects.

    2. P220 Hunter 10mm, $1379. This is a pretty weird gun. It's in Kryptek camo, single action only, 5" barrel, stainless steel frame with checkered front strap, adjustable rear sight. It looks and feels more like a custom 1911 than a 220. I don't have any other 10mm's and don't have a reason for buying it other than it's cool.

Yeah, yeah, besides buying both, comments?

*sigh* Free state gun prices. I’m not a rich Sig fan, or at least not rich enough for both of these at Kali prices.

Both are nice guns. What are your use cases?

I would get a RX pro (red dot) Legion gun if I were to purchase one now. The non-red dot guns are nice also, but the dots are so much better for the types of shooting a P229 is designed for that I would definitely pay extra for the dot. The legion red dot slide with the optic attached is available from Sig’s website if you want to upgrade it. The Sig Romeo1 Pro optic shares a footprint with the Leupold Delta Point and a few others.

The 10mm hunter is kind of rare. It’s a long slide single action P220. The safety is a bit stiff until you have 500ish rounds through it. It would be a very solid hunting or camping sidearm. The only challenge is finding a holster. You probably have to go custom leather. Make sure to get enough magazines. I wouldn’t expect these magazines to be available long into the future. The P220 45 ACP magazines won’t feed 10mm.

I believe Sig only made a thousand or so of these, so it will likely have collectible value in the future. Anything Sig and 10mm seems to go up in value.

I have no use for either one whatsoever. I have a number of other 9mm's and I don't hunt.

Not among the choices, the store didn't have any.

I diddled the safety. It felt fine to me.

I don't hunt or camp. As I mentioned, I have no legit use for either gun.

I believe Sig only made a thousand or so of these, so it will likely have collectible value in the future. Anything Sig and 10mm seems to go up in value.
Ugh, that means I probably won't want to shoot it, which kinda sucks. I won't be able to find any ammo for awhile anyway, but I'd like to shoot it at some point.

I have the 226 Legion SAO, amazing trigger, absolutely love it. I paid CA price a few years ago for it, could likely get $500 more than I paid for it if I sold it now. No way will I sell it though. Good luck

The answer for these types of questions is always the same: buy BOTH!

              If only one, go Hunter.

229 Legion is an excellent platform and has all of the desirable parts SIG offers. Form and function are great for me. Trigger is very good. The Hunter is a "niche" piece that I think they ended production on. Very cool piece but more of a purpose built gun that the 229 Legion. JMHO. Can't go wrong with either and the prices are really fair. Really depends on what your intended use is.

Yes, I played with the trigger on the 10mm. It was nice for a factory trigger.

I addressed that in the OP.

As I mentioned, I don't really have a use for either one of them. Not the first time that's been the case on cg.

I just stumbled across these youtubes, so this is another consideration of foolish money spending:

I don't have an autosear, but I imagine a binary trigger would work.

Get the P220 in 10mm. Not many of those made and will become very collectable over time.

But not if I shoot it? They are hydrodipped, so I worry they will show wear in short order.

BTW, this is current production, because otherwise CAL Ranch would not have gotten one in a few days ago. It looks like:

Unless you plan to skip your gun across gravel, the hydrodip shouldn't wear much at all between home & range use.

Don't forget that hunting shotguns use dipped camo and no complaints from the field.

                            Get the 10mm P220.
