Bring a hammer and brass rod with you to the range

If it works- it’s good

If it does not work - toss it or reload it

If it goes psssft and a bullet gets lodged in the barrel - use brass rod and hammer to knock it out and then pull the rest to reload.

Time to see if brand X can take a little water. Couple of round, bring a rod and hammer just in case but my bet is they are fine. Unless they are reloads or 22s.

This is true, commercial primers and bullets are a good tight fit. Not water proof to 100 meters, but definitely water resistant.
What would happen if water did get inside?
As long as the case is not obviously corroded, I would shoot it.

Shoot it and report. I've shot plenty of wet rounds. Even shot a case of shotgun shells that was left in my blind from the year before. Blind was about a foot deep with water and case was fully covered. Went to get blind ready and after bailing out the water and removing a dead muskrat I found the case. Took them back to the club, wiped them down and shot them opening day...

I left some rounds in the pocket of my pants through the laundry.
.38 special, I tried to fire them, just dented the primer, not even a "pfft".

Pull apart and reuse the bullets and brass.

Hunted a lot in rain and snow.......don't know how many guns and rounds of ammunition I had to dry out

I do have military ammunition with tar sealant around the bullet and of course a sealer around the primer. I don't know if the tar is there for water proof, or to keep the bullet from moving.

Basically a good case neck to bullet fit is water tight, and so are tight primers. Just wipe the cases off, don't put them in the dryer, or a toaster oven to dry, as heat ages the gun powder and tumbling cannot do any good for the structural integrity of gunpowder in the case.

Just don't rely on them for home defense. Probably fine.
