so I just purchased my FN 5.7. Unfortunately i have not been able to find ammo anywhere. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Ive called the Sand Diego area, Victorville etc and nothing. I live in the Los Angeles county area and any tips would be helpful. Also if anyone has 5.7 ammo for sale that would be Awesome. Thanks

5.7 ammo in southern California

I found a single random box at Blue Collar in Colton a few weeks ago, he said he might be getting more in. Recoil Gun Works has some of the good stuff for 70 bucks a box.

copy thatThe best inexpensive stuff, when the world is quasi-normal is the Federal American Eagle. There was a year or so Federal had a 5 cent/round rebate promo on. That worked out well if you bought the 5.7.
Other sources include of course FN Blue & Red box, Elite Ammunition, I've not used Recoil Gun Works personally.
The world is simply not normal right now. When the best price you could find for this stuff was $.62/round, which predates the Federal American Eagle, the best bet was just to buy it at least a couple cases at a time when you found it.
It was hard to come by in any real quantity a decade age. Now(!), when you find for any quasi-reasonable price OP, buy a couple cases of it.Comment

Search on line; if you are fortunate enough to find some, buy it at any not too crazy price. Have it shipped to your local FFL, after you have discussed it with him and he has agreed to accept it for you. Expect to pay substantially more than it would of cost a year ago.
***Just did a quick online search. Very little available nation wide. Average cost $2.00 per round.Last edited by 003; 01-23-2021, 4:24 PM.Comment

5.7x28mm is still a niche caliber. Is this your first gun?
Pre-covid, 5.7 ammo was already overpriced. I hate to know what the market price is like now. If you go on gunbroker, there are 5.7 ammos being auctioned. Find a seller willing to ship to CA FFL and you can acquire it that way.

My lgs has it for 2 bucks a round.
More important, find you some reloading dies. And when you do, go buy a lottery ticket and search out some hen’s teeth.Comment

I think your best bet is to keep an eye on Riflegear's site and sign up for their notification-by-email feature on any of the particular options they usually stock.
I've noticed they get it in stock much more often than just about anyone locally in Southern CA, and when they do, it doesn't go as fast as other cartridges, purely because it's not as widely used.

Now if you want to overpay and want it NOW, TODAY, Martin B. Retting's in Culver City has 200-rds up for auction on Gunbroker, that would allow you to pick it up locally if in fact you are the eventual "winning loser" - which I say, because it's already WAY overpriced by $1.19 per round with the bidding war going on alone, with more than 6 hours to go.

Good luck - personally, I would wait until Riflegear gets some in.-----------------------------------------------
