    MP5/SP5 market or no?

Hello. Is there at all a market for MP5s or SP5s in California? Like do people want one?

If not, is it because there isn't a good way to maglock it?

I ask because I can't find any for sale here on cal guns.

You can get the ptr 9 which is ca compliant or spend a lot of money making the Sp5 ca compliant, you have to swap the barrel , put I stock and a fin from what I understand

          this.

CA closed the route that would make SP5's viable to bring in as a "pistol" which would keep it mostly intact except for the maglock requirement.

it is better to buy one of the clones out there for a rifle/carbine sized MP5 like the PTR9 than it is to hack a real HK up.

They DO want them, but frankly there is no workable way to get them in and actually use them. First you have to get around the roster, THEN you have to render it not an AW and as you pointed out, there is no convenient system for rendering the mag "fixed" under new CA law but yet allowing for the reasonable operation of the pistol. (no, I don't count trying to load the mag through the ejection port a reliable and feasible means of operating the pistol.

i just wish PTR would make the hk33 clone already.

i was getting ready to buy the zenith version but that is now gone.

No, there is not a 'good' way to maglock it. There are bad ways to maglock it. That is why they are not super popular here IMO. It may be cumbersome to load through the ejection port, and getting the mag out to reload or clear a jam with the available maglocks would require removal of the trigger pack.

Would this work for the mag lock?

Does it need anything else other than threadlocker on the barrel?

I look at it as not being worth the hassle. If you are a serious HK collector, then you probably that the $$$ to maintain a residence out of state to feed your habit.

Do something like this with a stock and it will be pretty popular here.
