DOJ, DROS System is DOWN (False Alarm)

Apparently started yesterday, only coincidentally right after the inauguration. Anyone have any insider info? My LGS had no insights.

It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.

This happened last year a few times too. It could be an indication people are buying guns or any guns they think will be banned by this new administration. After all there was no further violence and another 1/20 just went by smoothly.

I know my basic AR15 build just sold for 2x my cost this week. If CADOJ didn't ramp up employees checking(which, why would they) then it may also contribute to downtimes when too many stores use it. That same cost has gone up $100 in the last 2 months.

Interesting. Just got a call from my LGS to say they're still down. Supposedly the other LGS down the street is also down.

You sure it's not just a local internet outage? The range I shoot at is reporting their ammo sales are going through as normal.

Often dealers get their DROS access shut down if they are behind in their payments to DOJ for DROS costs.

Thos dealers often blame DOJ for the system being down, when in fact its them not paying their bill.

OK, so the real story is now available. This is from the LGS in question:

Yesterday we logged into our Dros Entry System and found out we are locked out of our account. The reason is the Certificate of Eligibility has expired. We have submitted the renewal application however when called about them processing it they told us, sorry we are backlogged and it can take several more weeks for us to get to your application. All employees as well as dealers need to have a COE in order to function in this industry. DOJ appears to be using covid as the excuse for the backlog. We have contacted Representative Mike Garcia's office and are contacting Chuck Michel's office in attempt to get this resolved. We are in the process of contacting all of customers we have with pending firearms. This is a violation of our customers rights as they have taken away our ability to release our customers firearms that have been legally purchased. We will update as we continue to deal with the DOJ. Thank you for your patience.
I'm disappointed they didn't share this when I was there, but I'll assume there was a good reason.

Looks like SVT-40 would get the prize if there was one.

I would have bet the COE, we have called it in other threads. FFLs really need to make sure they are renewing their COE on the very first day that the renewal is made available to them. Don't even delay one day

We've been running this entire week with no problems. It's not a doj problem or a website problem for sure

Well it's never the LGS fault, it's always CA, FEDs, A2 infringement, Supply line, too much demand, worker called in, previous customer took too much time.

Meanwhile there are plenty of LGSs that will say all the above but secretly thinking thank goodness for this Covid/election fear and panic so they can make high profits again.

You can see this disparity by going to 2 different LGS and seeing their ammo prices. My friend just got a bunch of 22s at pre pandemic prices and another one is charging $50 a box for 9mm target ammo. $100 for self defense.
