Folks, its that holiday time of year again. Compton and the LA County Sheriffs will be continuing their "guns for gifts" program again. Though, this year they are only offering $50 per gun instead of $100. Thought I would pass this along for anyone who has any worthless junkers.....

Guns For Gifts
Starting this weekend, Compton residents will have the opportunity to exchange guns for gifts -- no questions asked -- as part of a city-sponsored effort to reduce violence in the area.
Personnel from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Compton Station will collect firearms in the parking lot of the Circuit City/Ralphs Grocery shopping center at Compton Boulevard and Alameda Street during the next three Saturdays beginning this Saturday, the sheriff's Compton Station said in a statement.
Participants will receive a $50 gift card to Circuit City, Ralphs Grocery or Toys "R" Us for each gun turned in.
About 400 guns were turned in last year. The guns eventually will be melted down at a foundry in Rancho Cucamonga in July, except for a few of the showier ones, which are rendered inoperable and used in demonstrations.
Last year, when Compton had the highest homicide rate of an Los Angeles County city.
