I would, but then again you can test fire at least 100 rounds for reliable ignition. If the new mainspring (for the hammer) lights off your ammo, then... the other thing to consider is how hard now is the slide coming back. The barrel lug could conceivably crack if the barrel-to-frame fit isn't perfect with the slide travelling at higher speed.

It's up to you. My default, though, is to run my Springfields using only factory parts. I have changed a few things about my pistols but always with Springfield bits.

if its a springfield with an ILS i would recommend using either a 23lb standard or 19lb reduced power.

not sure what weight the kloimus has installed. Not sure what weight the springfield comes with now but they used to come with a 30lb in the ILS setup

there is no right answer - yes swapping the spring might help you sleep at night but in reality it may not be necessary.

ideally you should test fire the gun and if it works I wouldn't worry about it... or you could just order a set of Wolff springs and replace the recoil and hammer spring together as they come as a set

Only time you need a lighter mainspring is if you are shooting 2700 Bullseye Pistol and using the typical spitball ammunition that just functions the action. These guys also use 12 lb recoil springs and have light trigger pulls.

If you plan to shoot standard velocity ammunition, go with the stronger mainspring. You want 100% reliable ignition in cold weather.

Found out the Klonimus comes with an 18lb spring. I already swapped over to the factory one on that gun, does anyone know what spring size comes in 9mm 1911’s, it’s a Springfield Champion Operator

standard weight for a commander/government sized pistol is 23lbs, Typically most people go to a 19lb mainspring on a 9mm 1911. Recoil spring differ depending on the gun (commander or government) and how it cycles and ejects.

On a full size gov 9mm 1911 i like to run 19lb mainspring with a 13 or 14 lb recoil. Others have used lighter recoil springs.
