the barrel bolts are loose sometimes as well.

Good morning fellow calgunners. I need to show some love to the SCAR 20S and want to spice it up. Exactly which sights and bipod come on the scar20 SSR?

I'd get the FN SCAR rear sight. But for that rifle I probably wouldn't get any irons at all.

Just because FN made a version equipped with irons doesn't mean that that is a good way to do it.

I would put an offset RMR or T2 on it, if I felt the need to put a backup on it.

I have two 17S and I've kept them fairly stock, except the Geissele triggers, glass, lights, and QD sling attachments. But my plans are for the SCARs to be 7.62 NATO battle rifles, so I've kept them as light as possible. Essentially, I regard them to be more capable SCAR 16s to me (which I also have two of.)

With the glass you've put on the 20S, you've taken a heavier rifle and turned it into a tank. You're not going to be running around in the woods with it, so it really doesn't need secondary sights. And night vision would be a waste of time, unless you go thermal sight. I don't know, its a sniper rifle. A fun precision rifle that is only good for that.

I wish FN would make a SCAR with the same extended rail, but with the lighter and shorter 16" or an 18" in 7.62 NATO or 6.5 Creedmore. And without the freaking precision stock.

I actually considered buying a 20S, ditching or cutting the 20" barrel down to 16-18", selling the sniper stock, and putting on the "moon boot" stock, but this was just ridiculous to do.

The FN SCAR system is great, but FN sucks when it comes to innovation, and alternative configurations.

I would probably ditch my SCAR 16s, except I want to SBR them when I get to Idaho and put on cans. They have a piston system that should work well suppressed.

I've created quite a few quality, highly capable and acurate ARs now, and I have enough back-up parts to fix all of them several times over. But I've found it very difficult to get all the backup parts for the SCARs, I've got quite a few backup small parts, but getting replacement bolts for instance is almost impossible.

Sorry to get off on a rant, but frankly I'm really ranting at FN.

some people run a 17s stock on the 20s, or any aftermarket stock they want, since they are all compatible. just remember that there are polymer components to the oem stocks for a reason (shock absorption)

This is true. If you remove the polymer stock parts, the rail screws and rear plate screws can loosen or break.

Frankly, its better to keep them as stock as possible.
