    Calico BLM open?

Has anyone been out there shooting recently in the area between Ft.Irwin and Calico?
That's usually my go to spot. I called the local BLM office and they said that local PD posted signs closing trails into the areas off of the main roads. They just weren't sure exactly what trails they were posted on.
Just trying to see if anyone has gone recently before I drive 2.5 hours. Thanks in advance!

I was planning on going there soon. Just to be clear, your're talking about:

North 15 exit Ft Irwin, head left and go up 3 miles until you see a weird road with power poles and turn left again.

    Same spot thats been closed?

I go North 15 exit Ft. Irwin, head left, stay right past the Irwin Rd/Ft. Irwin Rd split then take the first dirt road opening on the right.

        Local PD would mean Barstow?

If BLM says there aren't restrictions then you just need to go outside city limits. Hard to close an entire desert so just go a little further.

Stayed in Mule Canyon on the other side of Calico mountain from where you described with no issues. This was a week before Thanksgiving. San Bernardino Sheriff handles the areas outside if Barstow if that’s who the BLM was referring to.

Copper City road area was open last Monday.

Odessa Canyon and Mule Canyon Road just to the east of Calico Ghost Town - both areas are open and not closed. I just went hiking with my dogs in both places and someone left behind an AR-500 steel target - SCORE!

You can also take the Daggett exit on I-40 or just take Daggett-Yermo Road (what Calico Ghost Town road is called south of I-15) and cross over I-40 and turn Left (North) and drive on Camp Rock Road - turn off it anywhere - all those places are open for shooting. It's uninhabited just make sure you don't shoot across any dirt roads.
