Where to buy 1911 100% frame?

Anyone know where I can find just a 1911 frame 100%?

Yeah, but you’d still have to go through an FFL to transfer the frame as if it were a complete pistol though.

I’m assuming you want to build up a custom 1911? Most people end up buying a complete pistol and selling off the parts they don’t want... its much easier than trying to save a few hundred dollars buying the frame only.

There's a ton of them listed on Gunbroker.com

Unless roster exempt, he can only buy on gunbroker if the seller is a private party and local to him and willing to do transfer in person.

Unless you're exempt, PPT is the only way.

                  Yup, you're right.

But the OP's question was where he could find one.

                    This. ^^^^^
                    Best and easiest option.
Plenty of SA mil/GI model in the market, New and used (ppt).

Looking to get a complete frame sounds like you want to build a gun, by yourself or a gunsmith. So, it doesn't even have to be in mint condition since it is going to get refinished after the build.

You can find one like that for about the same price, give or take, as ordering a frame on line with other costs involved.

Thanks for all the replies, I'm wanting to do a custom build. I think I'll go the ppt route and buy a complete gun.

While true. We don't want OP clogging up FFLs with shipments that they have to ultimately ship back at OPs expense. It is very frustrating for all involved. I have ultimate respect for you when you give advice. You are a wealth of knowledge to this site. But I will always interject when I see fit. Also i will take my lickings when wrong. Sounds like OP is on the right track now.

Nothing wrong with interjecting. That makes for good discussion on the forum. Actually, the point of my posting was to prompt the OP to re-think his question.

I suspect that he really didn't want to know where he could find a bare 1911 frame for sale, but rather was seeking how to obtain one in California. That's a different question.

And I agree that he he now seems to be on the right track.
