Electronic hearing protection

Just looking to get some advice on people's experience with electronic ear protection. I looking for something comfortable, and something that won't look like I'm an air traffic controller.

Something sub-$100 would be ideal.

They are worth having if you're taking a class or shooting with a bunch of people. Anywhere you need to hear commands/conversation while shooting. I like Peltor, personally.

I got so used to wearing mine when I did not have them on and I shot a .50BMG
it really sucked. They work so good you dont really know if your wearing them of not.

I use these as well, they range from $60 up to $85 depending on where you buy them. I got mine from the United Sportsmen gun range in Concord for $49. If your in the bay area, its the cheapest you will find these muffs. I love mine, they fit great, work like a champ, and you cant beat the price. I had a pair of cheap $40 electro-muffs from Cabelas, they lasted about 3 trips to the range, then they stopped working all together.

I have not had a chance to try them out at the range, but my initial impression is that they do seem to have better protection than the Peltor 6P. They also have greater amplification of low-level sounds. They seem to be better constructed, and I much prefer the battery compartment location of the Leights. They run on 2 AAA batteries, compared to 4 AAA's for the Peltor 6P.
