Rare Breed Showcasing Non-NFA FRT-15 Forced Reset Trigger

Saw this in my email this morning. How does this work? Hold trigger down and the trigger gets pushed against your finger? But since you're pulling it under constant pressure it fires again? The video doesn't look like guy is actually "pulling" the trigger in the traditional sense, but fire is on par with full auto.

Is this even legal in CA? Something about increasing the rate of fire in the PC, isn't there?

...The FRT-15 uses energy from the bolt to reset the trigger forward, allowing rapid, but not automatic fire.

According to Rare Breed the FRT-15 is not subject to regulation under the National Firearms Act, or NFA, since it requires the shooter to pull the trigger for every round fired...

They're using the same argument as a bump stock in that technically the trigger has to get pulled each time. After each shot, this trigger moves forward just a tad, so putting pressure on the trigger allows you to shoot again. The trigger itself activates with each shot, unlike the standard multi setup where the trigger remains fixed as you're holding it down.

Kind of a neat design, but I'd like to avoid the damn feds or state goons showing up outside my house so I'm a hard pass. Do your own risk assessment and ask yourself how much you're willing to risk and spend on being a potential test case, and even where you'll be able to shoot it.

Yeah, not looking to buy one since I would have no where to shoot it, and it doesn't look like you can "disable" it to make it more of a traditional trigger. Just curious as to the inner workings of it and legality in CA. Thanks!

        For sure.

If you google it and look at their site it shows you a video of the actual mechanism. It really is kind of a neat way around the traditional definition of a multi burst trigger activator or full auto thing.

Here is the above video embedded in the article.
The new Rare Breed Triggers FRT-15 trigger for the AR platform allows very rapid semi-automatic fire from an AR-15 rifle. Watch the video above, which shows the trigger in action and explains how it works.   The TL;DR is that the FRT-15’s sear forces the trigger to reset with every shot even if you keep ... Read more

I'm not interested as I'm not big on rapid fire, others have ammo to burn. I do think it could be used as a regular trigger with practice, but like the bump stop it's designed to burn ammo.

I read that as FART-15. Cool idea, not for my pew-pew’s, tho.

              Umm, ok.

Now, what is the use for such a gadget?
Why would anyone want to waste money on it??

The design is pretty interesting now that I watched the other video. Seems it would be easier to control and more predictable than any manner of bump fire. I give props for creativity. I have no issues if someone wanted to buy for S's & G's. Who am I to judge? Not sure how long before this gets on the radar of some anti 2A group though. You know, because it's scary!

Pretty sure this falls under CA PC 16930

"...(2) A manual or power-driven trigger activating device constructed and designed so that when attached to, built into, or used in conjunction with, a semiautomatic firearm it increases the rate of fire of that firearm.

It does fall under CA PC 16930 in CA, but PC 16930 does not apply in other states and most other states don't have any type of similar law.
This gadget is going to be quickly banned somehow by BATFE because it's so similar in function to a bump stock.

The people attracted to such things, not unlike the ersatz SBR/pistol brace crowd, are not by and large, precision shooters. I doubt demand will be high or many installed given the current price of ammo nationwide.

agreed. people want to get a private bay and be operator af for a couple hours. i can see how it is fun...just not for me and the price of ammo is part of it.
