Anyone remember Bobs military antiques in SM?

That was one heck of a store.... you know Old Bob Reiss passed away a few years ago.....Bought my first AR-15 ,a brand spanking new Colt SP-1 with all the trimmings from him back in about '76. Oh well, just wondered if anybody here remembered that place... it truly was a "museum", full of all those mannequins
dressed in old uniforms... and the decorations... and Samurai sword collection... Awesome place back in the OOOG day.

Bob's Military Antiques in Santa Monica!!

I used to beg my Mom to take me to "Bob's gun shop" in the late sixties, in Santa Monica. He had torsos with German uniforms of different types and rows of helmets. I bought quite a few reasonably priced things with my newspaper delivery money. Some of the stuff, like a "Blue Max" medal he sold me, were fake, as I discovered years later, but there was good stuff too. He was pretty friendly to me when I was 12...most guys wouldn't give a kid the time of day. I liked Bob. Does anyone know what became of him? I did a lot of collecting in the late '90s but never ran into him. Cheers, Pete Vilkin 9/2012

Yeah, I remember that place well---always interesting shop to visit---lots of neat stuff---they don't make gun stores like that any more!

I remember allot of gun shops in SM during those days including Martin B Retting when he tried to expand his usiness. Personally I try to stay away from SM cuz it's so anti-gun now if anyone tried to mention it you would get a funny look. It's better to talk guns at BIG 5.
