Question about selling a gun.

I want to sell a gun via PPT within California. I don't have a CA Real ID drivers license, as the seller will this be a problem?

I read the FAQ's at the Attorney General's page on the CA DOJ site and couldn't find an answer. https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/pubfaqs

This is the closest I got to finding an answer -

Can I sell a gun directly to another person (i.e. non-dealer)?

The prospective buyer is deciding on a place to do the transfer, so I want to know ahead of time if the transaction can be done without the seller (me) having a Real ID.

Buyer needs one, not seller.

Call the FFL when it is selected in case they have their own set of rules.

My cousin recently sold a couple guns to me and did not have realID.

Real ID is federal requirement so you can travel. It requires you PROVE who you are and a citizen to get one.
Any CA DL or ID card is good for a PPT - as long as it's not expired.

Some FFLs are going to require it from the seller, or an alternate proof of citizenship like birth cert or passport, because if the buyer fails DROS the FFL has to return the gun to the seller.

Real ID or an old school Non-FLA ID/DL is required for gun purchases now unless you bring a passport or birth certificate. Old school are becoming rarer now as they are all expiring, and pretty soon it will be all REAL-ID or FLA ID.

As mentioned, definitely call the FFL in advance. While you can sell without a real ID, many FFLs look for any reason to avoid doing PPTs. Better to find out they’re going to be jerks about it over the phone, vs driving down there and then finding out.

While you’re at it, ask them if they have ANY other restrictions on doing PPTs - certain times of day, appointments required, no room in their safe, etc.
