Regardless of the attitude and it being in disrepair I love Sharpshooters.

One of the few places that let you shoot steel case ammo and pre-covid it was a flat range fee with no time limit.

The *****s at LAX on the other hand inspect everything and even told me I can't shoot Blazer Brass because the primer pocket is too small for their reloaders.

I never got to meet Fred in person or train under him, but enjoyed his stories thoroughly on the defunct "Polite society" website and was delighted during his short stint on CG.

I've missed my chance. here's to your smooth sailing Fred, I'm sure everyone already knows to keep off your lawn.

Heaven forbid if a customer asked a rookie (aka stupid) question.

He had some good stories below though.

I saw Fred smile only once, some police came in to shoot some sort of evil black rifle (giggle switch possibly) and let him burn a few rounds.
He came out grinning ear to ear.

Happy retirement Fred and keep on drumming.

Many Calgunners swore never to return because of Fred and a "heavyset" person whose name I do not recall.

The new guys seem friendly, so give it another try if you are a local?

Enjoy because they are going belly up next month. One I find cool the other not so much. Fred stories were great.

They are closing? Nooooo....Sharpshooters is a great place to shoot / practice / test reloads. I have been going there off and on for the past few years.

I hate to see them close down.

Fred was a cool guy...once he knew you, there were no issues. Walk in, sign in, pay, shoot and leave.

I am heading there in a few minutes to burn a couple more range passes before they close.

Last time I went, they said closing "end of April", but I will try to verify that 4/30 is the last day.

Yes, let me know what you find out.

I guess I will be heading over there more often these next few weeks to enjoy the range before they close.

They confirmed 4/30, but I'd suggest using up passes as early as possible.

                        3 more trips planned.

                            roc_my_tims,

I'm with you. The range needs improvement I admit myself just like you. I haven't been back there since the pandemic started.

Fred I don't know much. The last time I was there he was OK to me but gave my buddy a hard time for some reason. I can't understand why but he did. In either case I wish him well in his retirement.

Since I'm close to retirement myself it would be great to work there and earn a few bucks as pin money.

Anthony or Miguel used to sell the guns at CAP Tactical. He works part time there at SS now. He's also one of the instructors.

Feel bad they are going away. It could be cleaned up. Fred was hit and miss. Solid honest guy, just not best people skills.

                                Just got back from SS.

Confirmed that Friday is the LAST day.

The owner of the building is upping the rent and therefore not sustainable in the current climate.

Sad to see this place close down. Yumi, Anthony, and Gio are super cool people!!!

The South Bay needs another place for people to go and shoot. LAX Range is nice, but not my fave lace to shoot.

                                1. Treat all guns as if loaded (even when you know they aren't).
                                2. Never point the muzzle at anything you aren't willing to destroy.
                                3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target.
                                4. Know your target and what is beyond it (avoid all collateral damage).
