Magazine will not hold to full capacity

First of all I am not new to glocks. I have 3 of them. For the first time though I have a 10 rd maazine that will only accept 9 rounds. Since Glock Customer Service seems to be ignoring me I have an idea I would like your opinions on. Should I try cutting the spring down to make room? If so how much should be cut at one time? Thanks for your responses in advance.

Did you use your fingers or an UpLula?

For my older fingers, the 10th is tough without the tool.

Are the new mags? The spring is always stiff on new mags IME. Use a maglula or the Glock loading thingy and then let the full mag sit a while

        Magazine problem

Magazine is new and has been sitting loaded for over a week. Occasionally unloading it and reloading it. Yes I too use the UpLula tool.

          Don't cut the spring.

Do you have other mags for the weapon that hold ten rounds? I would compare the mag in question with a known good one.

Remove the floor plates, springs, and followers, then compare all parts including the bodies. If everything matches you likely just have a really tight spring.

Maybe take the mag. apart and see if there is a burr in the base or a bit of debris?

If you have the base removal tool, great, take a second one apart and compare.

Otherwise, wait for more info here.

Good luck and let us know the result.

Edit: Kinda like DR beat me to it.

Remove the spring and see how many it will hold with no spring.

Sometimes the plastic needs to be trimmed a bit

I always load smallermags down -1. So load 9 in a 10 round mag. Or 7/8

It ensures the gun can strip the top round.

The tail on the follower can sometimes be a bit long.

This is also a stability thing for the follower. Don’t trim too much

Glock 10 round mags suck ***. I don’t remember a single one holding 10 rounds without a fight.

Why didn’t you upgrade during freedom week?

Is it a genuine Glock mag?

If so, take the spring out and compare to one you know works. Instead of comparing length of both springs instead count each loop of the springs to see if they're the same.

Now inspect insode of follower and tube for extra plastic and remove carefully, if necessary.

G19 mags were a major pain when new, but got better with use. No problems with others...

                        “Perfection”

Before you take it apart just load and unload the mag many times. When you get tired keep it loaded until you can repeat step one again. If it doesn’t break in after all that then take it apart and look for problems as directed above.

I mean... you want him to bust his thumbs loading and unloading a bazillion times, and THEN check for internal problems??

Kinda backwards if you ask me.

But nobody did... so I'll see myself out.

OP, XD mags are no different. Painful, but can be done. When I was able to get the 12th round in the mags (.40) I let them set awhile.
