    Scrap brass buyers?

Anyone know of a good buyer of scrap cartridge brass in Santa Cruz or Monterey counties? The one place I could find that would buy it quoted a price of .25/lb, which seems absurdly low to me.

Before you ask, I don't want to sell it to a reloader--it's all mixed up, and some of it would be downright dangerous to reload even one more time.

    Tim,
I havent scraped brass in years, but can remember scrap brass going for $2 a pound in my area 10-12 years ago.
Currently I think its $1.20-1.40 per lb.
.25 would cause me to pass.
    Keep it simple!

I only got 65 cents a pound. They consider it dirty brass. Even after I put it through the tumbler.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Thanks, guys--looks like I'm going to be sitting on this stuff for a bit longer.

Joel, hope to see you in April. Stay safe.

I'm surprised anyone is getting brass as scrap instead of re-loaders scrambling to get components and assemble ammo.

Last week I'd heard of several people asking the Livermore range about where the brass they collect went. I'd known for years it usually gets recycled, but knowing how times are right now it wouldn't surprise me if it started going to the highest bidders.

Give them a call OP. They might a have chain vendor that extends that far south.
Anyway...here's a dearth of reasoning to ponder: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Guns

Clean brass like that will sell for a good price to reloaders. Check out the prices in market. You will get several times what the scrap yard pays.

Not Santa Cruz or Monterey counties - more Bay Area.

                They are screwing you over.

Fired brass, should have any nickel sorted out and no .22LR's and get the clean brass price.
