    Market Anomolies?

Any one notice anything unusual or unexpected in all this? I was thinking the other day that $400 guns are now $500, $500 are now $625, and so forth; it seems almost universal but that the "high end" guns really haven't gone up the same percentage. What was $1500 might be $1600 but it doesn't seem like Pythons are getting any more, it seems like Les Baer 1911's are about the same in the 2k - 2500 range? AR's (as they call them) still seem the same, M1A's which I watch seem the same, but it seems like the Ruger Mini 14 and maybe SKS models are up.

Its always intriguing to me to try and figure out the market for guns; I'm just a buyer occasionally I trade but I don't have one for sale.
    1. Compared to what?
    2. At what cost?
    3. What hard evidence do you have?

The people most threatened by the "defund the police" movement are the ones buying these firearms. They don't have a lot of money for the higher end stuff, so the "run" is on the more affordable. Which causes a supply/demand price increase.

Well, the more people keep buying at these current prices...the more they'll keep selling.

High prices usually weed out inexperienced buyers. The buyers for high end guns probably have all the guns they need already, and will not pay a panic premium.

I have spoken with a lot of people lately, who have either never owned a gun or who last shot one when they were a kid.

They are ready to pay a reasonable premium, under the circumstances, but they have no idea what the process is.

They typically start by asking how to get a license to buy a gun...

When I explain the process and the hurdles that they must overcome, they usually confused and surprised.

As others have said, they are expecting to pay about $500 to $1000 depending on their finances.

This puts the buyer's premium on the low to mid priced guns like Glocks, shields, and the like.

I don't think this sudden demand impacts the high end guns as much as the mid priced models/brands...

This is my thinking as well. Strange when you see a lot of entry level stuff edging closer to the price of nicer, collectible pieces.

A $1,500 Python beat the crowd and has been overpriced for decades.

There’s a lot of NOOBs and the extent of their firearms experience has been gained through COD and GTO where glock is the best thing out there.

                  EDIT:

I have no idea what OP is talking about.

There are deals to be found, you just have to look

And that’s ^ one heck of a deal!!!

Likely, but even those who do have money, but are completely new to guns and shooting, won't spend a massive amount on a premium product they don't understand or need.

High-end market is always quite different from the basic market, be it real estate, cars or guns...
