    PAYPAL HORROR STORIES

I recently got hit by paypal for someone mentioning something something gun related in a product description. First they froze my funds, about $400. After 6 months they took the entire balance as damages. Their user agreement claims that liquidated damages will be set at $2500 per occurrence.

I don't think that the liquidated damages provision in the contract is enforceable. I think they need to be sued in the superior court to see if we can make them stop what they are doing. If anyone has a similar horror story and is interested in trying to get their pound of flesh from Paypal, please feel free to send me a PM.

Are you saying you were not aware of PP's posture on stuff that is gun related?

    Next time use GunPal.

I will try that. I knew paypal does not like guns but their acceptable use policy just prohibits "ammunition, firearms, or certain firearm parts or accessories," They don't list the prohibited parts or accessories, then they try to use the unenumerated parts limitation as a basis to steal your money.

Anyway, I think it's crooked and they should be sued to make them stop doing it.

Good luck in your lawsuit. They have deeper pockets than you do. No attorney will take this unless you pay up front. You will be out more than the $400 you are already out.

If the description of the part falls into a firearm part or accessory, then it will be difficult to win becuase their acceptable use policy prohibits these in general. They do not need to identify specific items.

PayPal has been known to be antigun for a very long time. There are other ways to pay for firearm parts. Do you really expect to do business with an antigun company knowing in advance that they have done this many times before when they catch people using their services to pay for gun related items and not expect to get burned if you get caught.

Use the old fashioned way, a postal office money order and snail mail. It takes a few extra days but there is no hassle if anybody discovers you bought gun parts with it. In fact, if you do not write it on the MO, nobody will know.
Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.

A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.

Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?

Funny thing is Paypal is used as main source of transactions on ebay which allows you to sell and buy gun parts.

I had a CalGunner do something similar 4-5 months back.

I had a WTS ad and it stated No PayPal. I was contacted by the buyer who had a positive iTrade rating and insisted he only wanted to use PayPal. I still have a PayPal account from years past, but I avoid using it if possible. I made the exception, but asked it be sent friends and family and no mention of anything firearms related in the memo section.

What does this jack wad do? He does NOT send it friends and family plus he lists the firearms accessory info in the memo section. Idiots will waste your time if you allow them. I refunded his $$ thru PayPal and moved onto the next CalGunner.

                      PayPal is odd.

A few years ago we were running a charity poker tournament for the local YMCA and I decided to paste their link into the webpage for registration and sign-up fees.

They contacted me and said we couldn't use PayPal for gambling.

I told them that we were playing for a charity and no actual money was being transferred.

They didn't care and froze my account. Fortunately, they did transfer all of the sign-up money back into my linked bank account.

We just started a new account and didn't put any links into the webpage, just the email address.

Ebay sells thousands of gun parts and mags every single day and people use Paypal to pay for the purchases
