How often do you actually shoot?

Was once a month....usually 250-300 rounds each. This past year, probably every other month... maybe 100-150 rounds

Joined a range membership so I can go whenever I want as I retire this month. Likely never shoot all my ammo, but gotta see where this sheit leads first.....

Used to be about 1 time a month. Now is about 1 time every 2 months. Local range is OK, but I don't like going there unless I need to sight in or function check a firearm. I prefer to go onto BLM but need to make the time to do that.

Once a week in the summer (my local range offers an all-you-can-shoot summer pass for $99) and every other week the rest of the year. On average, that's closer to every week than every month, so that's what I chose.

In retirement I'm down to 9 guns. I may get one more carry gun - a Ruger LCR snubby. Regular practice with a limited number of guns means that I'm getting about as good as I'm going to get. I don't shoot precision target handguns or rifles and I don't compete, so my proficiency goals are pretty modest: eliminate flyers at reasonable SD ranges shooting at a reasonable pace. I'm almost there and in a year or so, I can see myself cutting back to once per month just to maintain proficiency, and taking a couple of classes per year for fun and variety.

Any month in which I don't shoot at least 2 or 3 times is a bad month.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) I am NOT that OCD.

I log my round count after the range trip, ie., I have a count of rounds before I head to the range, and I count what is remaining when I get back.

Right now I shoot once a week.
I can do 15 draws, 10 single shots from varying distances and 5 draws with 2 shots for a total of 20 rds. Basically I use it for recoil practice to supplement dry fire.

pre kids, monthly at least. post kids, maybe quarterly. also, i used to shoot mostly outdoor rifle, that's changed indoor pistol for convenience.

Disclaimer: I'm not from the government and don't really care how much firepower you have in your safes.

I was just thinking that some Calgunners on here seem to be 60+ years old and are hoarding a lot of ammo. If you are just shooting a few times a year, 10,000 rounds should be enough for several years.

I'm in the foothills of the southern Sierra Nevada mountains, and have a ravine right behind the house. My shooting stations are a short walk down the hill from my back door. 15,25,50, and 100yd targets, safely capturing all bullets. Because of that, I tend to shoot fewer rounds more often than if I had to pack up and drive 20ish miles to the range. I might only shoot a couple of magazines worth, and I might do that several times in a day. I also might go weeks without shooting at all, like when I had a shoulder replaced.

When we decided to procure a ten-year supply of ammo, it was north of 80k rounds, with over half being 22LR. The rest are 9mm, 45acp, 223/556, 22-250, 308, 17HMR and 12 and 20ga. Recently added 6.5CM.

If I were competing, even casually, my ammo consumption would be far higher. I used to average over 1000rd/month, and had to go to the range for every one of them. When I retire, I may well get back to that.

Still shoot at least once per week, but probably a little more judicious with ammo use. I can still replenish 7.62x39 at tolerable prices, but haven't bought any other ammo (other than 6mm CRD, which is oddly still readily available) in 2020.

I also used to take 3-4 classes per year and I'd go through 500-800 rounds per class so I've cut back on that as well. Only 1 class in 2020 and next class is with Travis Haley in Bakersfield in April 2021.

1-2 times a week unless the forest is closed and then it drops to once a month because I don't like paying for range time.

I still go every other week. However, I've reduced my round count from about 400 a session to about 250.
