Contact your bank and tell them this is a case of fraud. They may be able to recover the funds. I've heard stories of personal checks being stopped and funds reversed, months later.

Carlos is known to be lower than sh1tty in customer communication.
Imo, "check only" is a very bad sign.
If it's not a long drive, you might just drop by.

They have a nice website and good reviews, I would be surprised if he just decided to start ripping people off. Maybe he has covid.

That's nice rifle, I don't mind the wait for good work. Hopefully I receive mine soon
I’ve purchased from Carlos several years ago and he was slow to respond back then. He must have changed his policies since I was able to pay only as it progressed - which took several months (he sent updates). 3 rifles in the time he specified is pretty quick. Hopefully, he gets back to you soon and isn’t having health or staffing issues. I know he became super swamped doing work for other companies after finishing my rifle.
