You may be disappointed. More often than not, pellet guns need about 200 to 500 rounds through them before they settle down and get accurate.

Under $100 I would say go with a cheap Crossman pump over $200+ then look into a break barrel for more accuracy.

I got my daughter the blue one last year. I loved the large lever and fiber front sight on hers so much that I upgraded my adult red ryder and my sons red ryder to have them also.

Daisy 880. Inexpensive, accurate for what they are, can vary the power, plus decent velocity at full power, and you can use BBs or pellets

I started my son with a Crosman 766; the current iteration of the 766 reminds me of the Remington Nylon 66 .22 semiauto. The 766 can be pumped up to 10x and is pretty accurate at the ranges you're describing. It can be used with bbs (not very accurate) or .177 pellets (accurate enough for gopher work in the backyard).

The CMP offering in Ishootforblood's post above looks like a great option.

Thanks for the suggestions. The sheer number of offerings available are pretty overwhelming compared to what I remember when I was her age 40 something years ago.

If she's going to be supervised (over the lifespan of the interest), then the suggestions are good. And inexpensive.

If you're assuming she's eventually going to be shooting by herself, I'd think the pumping/cocking may be tough for a pre-teen kid.

I'd be looking at a lower end PCP pellet gun.

I grew up learning to shoot on a Red Ryder. My pops would have me shoot the heads off the Fiddlehead, minnows in the pond, and old beer cans off the fence line. I really miss those days.

I have a pair of airsoft replica Glock 17's with blowback action (cycles the slide). Mine run on greengas which is propace with silicon lubricant added. I picked up a fill adapter that let's be add the silicon lube and use standard 16 oz propane cylinders. Quite a bit cheaper than greengas from the airsoft shop. The airsoft guns are more than your $100 limit, but I feel they are just as fun and safer than metal BB's.

They don't maintain the accuracy of a .177 pellet gun because the 6mm plastic BB's just don't have enough mass, but they are very accurate within their proper range. I've set up a reactive "shooting gallery" in my backyard using targets from TacTrainers. Lots of good suggestions for beginner air rifles.

I hope she shows some aptitude for precisions shooting. Most of the girls excel at this.

If she enjoys it, definitely look at continuing the evolution with Olympic 10 Meter Air Rifle competition.

When old enough you'll need to upgrade to a precision air rifle like a Walther or a Feinwerkbau.

Getting a scholarship to shoot for an NCAA rifle team isn't that hard.

And who knows what can happen later on......perhaps an Olympic Gold Medal like my friend Ginny.
