    Ammo Shortages and Prices

This was predictable, and I laid in a good supply, over time, of what I need and shoot.

But now we are back to the years of the Obama Regime, in which constant threats of limiting 2A rights generated high gun sales, ammo shortages, and high prices.

Among other things, the liberals already are preparing a bill in the House to restore full liability to firearms manufacturers, which is an absurd concept. Take it seriously.

9mm is my "house wine", and just for fun, I checked Midway USA. They list 235 different 9mm ammo products, and only 2 actually in stock for shipping! Those two are 50 round boxes priced at 70 cents per round, and are some kind of discontinued Remington variety! But some 9mm is running as high as $1 per round if you can find it.

I bought ammo when this wasn't happening. So I'm not a buyer at this time. But Pres. Biden is going to be anti-gun all the way, and will be surrounded by underlings who will pursue that philosophy, and Uncle Joe will be too confused to argue with them.

Don't blame the ammo manufacturers. They didn't cause this, and they would be foolish to build capacity for peak demand. Biden caused it, and then consumers who didn't see it coming, including some in this forum who voted for Biden, are now seeing the consequences.

I was in a LGS not long ago and in just the time I was there, it amazed me how many people came in and were totally unaware of the laws and the shortage.

They would get frustrated with the employees for not having the exact gun or ammo and then 'terse' when they were told it's 'unobtainable,' for now. The employees did pretty good in terms of holding their temper (and their contempt); but, I'm not sure I could have in the face of repeated... ignorance. (There was also some of the "but, so-and-so had it, I just didn't want to pay that price" going on; bearing in mind the price they cited was actual retail and, as it turned out, they just couldn't haggle a 'deal' at the other place.)

Insofar as the ammo manufacturers, they do bear partial blame. I get that they are hesitant to invest the money for "short term" demand and I get that COVID has caused some 'unique' problems. However, these shortages have become less and less 'short term' and more a 'regular' pattern over the last decade or two. (In fact, perceptually, there is a decreasing amount of time of 'low'... read that, 'normal'... demand and these surges; but, I haven't done the actual math.) Every time, the prices tend to go through the roof, even at retailers and not just private sales, due to "supply and demand;" at least that's the excuse typically pointed to.

I get it. But, there are also... clues... that there is a certain artificiality to some of the aspects related to "low supply." Just like when they claim to be working at full capacity, including no reloading components due to their use in ammunition production, but NOBODY seems to have ammo available or, at best, a few boxes 'leak' out. Where is all that production going? (In times past, reps were claiming "millions of rounds per day in production," yet you couldn't find a box to buy anywhere.) Don't tell me that it gets out, but only a few to any, given retailer when NO ONE admits to getting ANYTHING. (Employees grabbing it when it comes in is only a partialeveryoneONLY cause this time. We might not be able to even blame him as the "fuse" that set the whole thing off. He's simply exacerbating an existing, multi-faceted problem.
